WHAT IS A CYCLE DAY?
Our daily schedule will be operating by way of a “6 DAY CYCLE,” as opposed to the traditional Monday through Friday concept. By using a 6 DAY CYCLE, we avoid missing special subjects (Art, Music, Physical Education, and Library) on days when school is not in session (snow days, vacation days, etc.).The first day of school will be “DAY 1,” as opposed to “MONDAY.” The second day of school will be “DAY 2;” the third day will be “DAY 3,” and so forth. The cycle will repeat itself every five days. In order to prevent any confusion, the “DAY” will be posted on the lunch menu and in the school lobby.
WHEN CAN STUDENTS ARRIVE AT SCHOOL?
Children should not be dropped off at school prior to 8:30 AM, and at 8:35 they will be admitted to the school building. All students must be in their classrooms by 9:00 AM, which is the start of the school day. If your child arrives at school after 9:00 AM, he/she is considered tardy. Please accompany your child to the office upon arrival.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE PICKED UP?
Parents who want to pick up their child at the end of the day (3:40 PM) should send a note to the teacher that morning so that the child is not placed on the bus. Children who do not have notes will be expected to board the bus. ALL parents are expected to come into the building to “sign out their child”. Parents will meet their child(ren) in the gym.
WHAT IF MY CHILD FORGOT SOMETHING AT SCHOOL?
Students are not permitted to return to the classroom for forgotten items after 4:00 PM. Teachers lock their classroom doors when they leave for the day to insure the safety of the belongings of both the children and the teacher. Custodians are assigned to various parts of the building and are not available to unlock doors to obtain forgotten items. It is the responsibility of the children (not parents) to remember to take home any items that they will need for that evening’s work. In the event of forgotten assignments, textbooks, etc., children should make arrangements with a classmate to borrow the needed items.
WHAT IF MY CHILD WILL BE ABSENT?
If your child will be absent from school, please call the “Absentee Phone Line” by 9:00 AM. 610-705-6009 option 4 and state the date, your child’s name, your child’s teacher, and the reason for the absence.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR EXCUSE NOTES?
When a child is absent from school a note written by the parent or guardian must be submitted to the classroom teacher within three days of the child’s return to school or the absence will be considered unlawful. This is in addition to calling the Absentee Phone Line. Blank excuse notes can be found here.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR EDUCATIONAL TRIPS?
Any parent who wishes to take a child out of school for the purpose of an educational trip must complete and submit for approval an educational trip form at least five (5) days prior to the start of the trip. Any work missed must be completed in a timely manner.
WHAT ABOUT BUSING?
Students are NOT permitted to ride a different bus to or from school. Arrangements for traveling to or from another student’s home must be worked out between parents.
